Kekulen I2P Chat (Fix Edition): Private I2P Messaging
Kekulen I2P Chat (Fix Edition) is a desktop chat client for the Invisible Internet Project, the encrypted peer-to-peer network known as I2P. Instead of connecting to a company's servers, it asks a local I2P router for a destination and exchanges messages inside that overlay, so neither side learns the other's IP address. The client talks to the router through the SAM bridge over JSON-RPC, which is why a router has to be running before anything works. Messages are wrapped in post-quantum encryption on top of I2P's own layers. This edition is the patched build, tuned for low memory use on modest hardware.
Two things need separating before you install it. I2P hides the transport, but the browser you use to reach I2P sites is a separate privacy problem, which is why pairing this client with something like Mullvad Browser makes sense for anyone who also browses eepsites. Kekulen I2P Chat (Fix Edition) only handles messaging, and it does not tunnel ordinary web traffic. Expect setup rather than a sign-up: run a router, enable the SAM bridge, copy a destination and share it with the person you want to reach. There is no contact discovery, no phone number and no directory to search.
Benefits of Using Kekulen I2P Chat (Fix Edition)
The reason to run Kekulen I2P Chat (Fix Edition) is that it removes the usual trust anchor from a conversation. There is no operator reading metadata, no account to hijack and no phone number tied to your identity, because addressing happens through cryptographic destinations that only the participants hold. Since I2P routes packets through several peers, an observer watching your connection sees traffic to the network rather than to a named service. The post-quantum layer is aimed at harvest-now-decrypt-later risk, which matters for conversations meant to stay private for years. The Fix Edition build is deliberately frugal, so an ageing laptop or a stripped-down virtual machine can run it without paging. It also costs nothing and installs from a package manager, which keeps updates simple.
